Ben Lloyd, Nashville Symphony Orchestra

Ben Lloyd has been a violinist with the Nashville Symphony for over 20 years. He graduated from Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory of Music in Berea, Ohio and was a student of Carol Sindell. Ben has also played in the symphony orchestras of Alabama, Arkansas, and Memphis among others. Every summer for the past 30 years he has played in the Lakeside Symphony. It is a Chataqua community, where he is assistant concertmaster.

Ben was introduced to Shawn's music In the spring of 1973, when his best friend (who did bear a striking resemblance to Shawn) called me in Philadelphia to ask me to drive him from Kent State to the Allen Theater in Cleveland to see a Shawn Phillips Concert. I was attending BW, 2 hours away, but I agreed. What a great show. I never missed another one my whole time at college.  Years and careers later, Ben is writing orchestrations and compositions with Shawn, having a joyous time doing it.

Coming in the Future:  Shawn Phillips new ballet

"Here's a sneak preview of the ballet I've had this idea in my head for 30+ years!  Based on Immanuel Velikovskys book, "Worlds In Collision", the ballet takes place on a split level stage. The upper stage has dancers representing our solar system, one dancer for each planet, moon, and sun, and the lower stage has 4 dancers being the major races of the earth, white, black, red, and yellow, and they each have their own village, as it were."  Shawn Phillips
