Re-Released as: Favourite Things (1965)

"A man named
Denis Preston heard me play at a party, in London, and offered me a
recording contract on the spot. I told him that I was on my way to India
to study Sitar, and would sign it only if there was no time clause
in it. He agreed, and we made an appt. for me to see the
studio. I walked into Lansdowne recording studios, as they wanted me to
see where I would be recording, and there were a bunch of guys in there,
with huge amps set up on a circle around them.
It was
really loud, and they were recording a tune called "My Generation". I
was introduced to Pete, John, Keith, and Roger, and they all thought my
accent was hilarious. I told them that I didn't talk funny, they did. We
all collapsed again, and we became friends. Later, when I was recording
"I'm A Loner", Pete sat in on a session, and after hearing "I'm A
Loner", the tune, said I was the best 12 string guitarist he'd ever
heard. I will never forget that." Shawn Phillips
